We must protect them from systems designed to oppress them. We must honor their strengths, celebrate their unique identities, and work to make the world a safe place for them to thrive.  We must give Black girls everything they need to take center stage.

Mia Birdsong is Co-Director of FamilyStory, where she is updating this nation's outdated picture of the family in America.  A speaker, leader, organizer, and modern renaissance woman, Mia's 2015 TED talk has been viewed more than 1.5 million times, has been published in the Stanford Social Innovation Review, Slate, Salon and On Being. She speaks on economic inequality, race, gender and building community at universities and conferences across the country. She co-founded Canerow, a resource for people dedicated to raising children of color in a world that reflects the spectrum of who they are.

La Guardia Cross is a musician, actor, filmmaker and star of YouTube's New Father Chronicles, a series that captures his newbie parenting mistakes, the growth of his daughter, his interpretations of her babble, her evolving personality, her brainwashing cuteness, and the hearts of many online aunties.

To date, millions have tuned in to witness the journey of a diabolical, yet cute little girl and her silly daddy. They’ve been covered by the Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, Today, Popsugar, and Parents.com, to name a few.
